Thermography- Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I’m all for promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and ‘Early Detection’ but many people recommend and emphasize the wrong thing (Mammograms!) during this month.

In my practice, I focus on overall breast health and ways to prevent breast cancer in your daily life rather than putting the emphasis on testing, poking, and squeezing.  Mammograms have been the gold standard for years and many doctors recommend them because they think they are the best for detecting cancer early- but this is not true!  Studies show that a thermography exam can identify precancerous or cancerous cells earlier and will produce unambiguous results.  This can cut down on additional testing .

People need to educate themselves and know how dangerous Mammograms can be!

Mammograms emit a high level of radiation and can increase your risk of radiation inducted cancers.  They can also lead to false positive results.

But with a Thermography exam there is no harmful radiation, it is noninvasive and causes no pain or body contact.

Thermography is a safe and efficient way to access your overall health!

Be smart.  Learn what is out there and make your own informed choices.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Healthy Breast Tip: Eat cruciferous vegetables every day!

You might be wondering what a cruciferous vegetable is– well lucky for you I’m going to teach you.

Cruciferous vegetables are in the cabbage family and have excellent breast cancer fighting properties. Research suggests that they contain a kind of phytochemical known as isothiocyanates, which stimulate our bodies to break down potential carcinogens. They work by preventing the transformation of normal healthy cells into cancerous cells.  Another cancer fighting compound found in cruciferous vegetables is indoles.  Indoles  helps detoxify enzymes and stops breast cancer cell growth.  These vegetables also make the estrogen receptors in breast cells less responsive to estrogen.  The slower breast cells divide the lower your risk of breast cancer!

A review of research published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association showed that 70% of the studies found a link between cruciferous vegetables and protection against cancer.

These Cancer fighting properties are pretty amazing.  It’s important to add some of these vegetables in your meals!

Next post I will be sharing a list of Cruciferous Vegetables you can use when you go grocery shopping!

Plants are Nature’s Pharmacy

Plants have been used for thousands of years across every continent as medicine.  But with the development of modern technology a lot of people have abandoned herbal medicine in favor of modern chemical medicine. Many people believe that herbal medicine ‘doesn’t work,’ ‘takes too long,’ or ‘is dangerous.’  While Modern medicine are ‘advanced,’ ‘dependable,’ and ‘have been tested properly.’

This couldn’t be further from the truth! Research shows that side effects from modern medicine can cause you more harm than the illness itself!

Herbal medicine is focused on treating the whole person while modern medicine is more focused on the disease.

Prevention is a key component in Herbal Medicine.  Instead of waiting until you get sick to be healthy focus more on an overall healthy lifestyle.

The amazing thing is that we have the power to prevent many illnesses from occurring just by the daily choices we make.

Stay tuned for some healthy plant suggestions to incorporate into your diet!

Breast Cancer Tip- Eat more Herbs and Spices!

Many herbs and spices  are effective natural medicines against breast cancer (and other types of cancer also!)

7 Spices

The  use of herbs and spices dates back thousands of years.  Traditional Chinese and  Indian medicine  ( Ayurveda ) both evolved more than 5000 years ago and focused on using herbs and spices for the prevention and cure of disease.

Current research shows that breast cancer is four to five times lower in countries where large quantities of spices are eaten.

A study published in The Medical Journal of Australia  found that “culinary herbs and spices contain high concentrations of antioxidants and phytonutrients [plant-derived chemical compounds important to human health] and may provide long-term health benefits that even outweigh their short term taste sensations”.

We should all include these wonderful and tasty ingredients in our daily diets.

Stay tuned to learn which herbs and spices I recommend and are the best for you!

Self Care and Thermography

Many of us are so busy with our every day lives that we don’t take time for ourselves.  But taking the time every day to care for your body and mind will make you feel good about yourself and will expand into every part of your life.

Through my blog, I have given you numerous little and easy things you can implement into your life to improve your health and well-being.

Adding

-Green Tea

-Turmeric

-Skin Brushing

-Watching out for Inflammation

-And Thermography exams

We only have one body and need to treat it right.

I want to re-emphasize the importance of Thermography in self-care.

It has been drilled in many of our heads by countless doctors that every woman should get a mammogram every year after they turn 40.  What these doctors are not telling you is that mammograms are not as helpful or safe as you might think.

Mammograms expose you to approximately 1,000 times the amount of radiation you’d get in a chest X-ray.  This radiation is stored in your cells and accumulates to significant levels over time if you’re getting the annual mammogram.  Also, during a mammogram your breast are being compressed.  This can damage breast tissue and may even open cancerous tumors.

The American College of Physicians, the largest medical specialty group, recently questioned the benefit of mammograms.  They stated that the risks might outweigh the benefits.

These are pretty amazing and alarming findings.

I encourage you to also do your own research.  Find out your options and what is best for you health.  We have the power of choice.

Love your body and treat it well!

Nature provides us with many anti-inflammatory foods which are also great tasting! Besides their abilities to reduce inflammation, they also supply us with loads of essential vitamins and minerals that boost our immune health.

Eat:

-Foods containing antioxidants (Fruits and vegetables)

-Omega-3 fatty acids

-Green Tea ( I wrote about here!)

-Turmeric (The curcumin- As seen here!)

-Blueberries ( High in phytonutrients)

- Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Full of polyphenols)

Eating a diet rich in these foods along with taking a daily supplement like CoQ10 will significantly reduce your risk of chronic inflammation and prevent diseases!

CoQ10

Here at Thermography for Health we have a wonderful anti-inflammatory: CoQ10.

http://nopaljuicedirect.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/inflammation_cells.jpgThis supplement has a lot of wonderful benefits rather than side effects like aspirin and ibuprofen.

CoQ10 is also known as Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamin Q.

CoQ10 is an enzyme that occurs naturally in every cell in the body.  It helps  reduce inflammation, boosts energy, enhance the immune system, and acts as an antioxidant.

http://www.healthcareanswercenter.com/store/products/temp/detail_20100329_061643_CoQ-Quinol-8ozSML(2).jpg

The CoQ10 that we sell here at DFHNY is different than many of the other supplements out there.  This brand is made from a ’Live source’ which means it contains a fully reduced (unoxidized) CoQ-10, known as ubiquinol (CoQ-10H) which provides maximum cell energy support.

I recommend mixing 1/4 tsp. in 1/4 cup water or juice, 1 to 2 times daily.

It is important to take time out of your daily activities for yourself and self-care.  Adding this supplement daily can help dramatically reduce Silent Inflammation and help fight off disease.

Inflammation good or bad?!

Inflammation  serves an important role in the function of our overall health.  Inflammation helps our bodies fight disease and get rid of unwanted bacteria.  It also assists our bodies in cleaning dead cells caused by trauma or infections.

http://www.leegreif5.com/inflammation%20in%20the%20body.jpgInflammation becomes a problem, however, when the immune system is unable to stop the inflammatory response or triggers it when it’s not necessary.   It then becomes a chronic condition and can be very harmful to our bodies.
When inflammation becomes chronic it starts to break down cells and destroy our body tissues (this makes it easier for tumors to invade and grow.)  Researches have found that chronic inflammation plays a vital role in the progression of many types of cancers and fuels a variety of chronic disorders (including heart disease, arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease.)

It is important to take the time and care for our bodies so we can detect chronic inflammation early on!
